My Colour Poem: Red

By Luke Murphy

Red is the colour blood,
An a sack
And an old, raggy sock.
There’s love and fun
But there was a gun,
Then it was the end for them.
There was anger and violence
All over the world.
Then it was time to say ‘bye bye’.

Our Poetry

What is Red?

By James McCarthy

Red is the colour of my bed
And a head too.
A flamingo reminds me of bingo,
An angry, red fire extinguisher.
A red Christmas bow.
A hard-working pencil or crayon,
Complimenting a copy.
A robin red breast sitting in a tree
Over a couple kissing
A lovely ladybird living on a leaf.
A juicy red apple.
This is red to me.

The Day We Won in Croke Park

By Evan Pierce

On Saturday, we had to meet at the school at 11:30 then we walked up the Croke Park.
When we got there, we ran down to the dressing room and saw a huge big hurley. When we got changed, we had to stand in the tunnel for ages, then we walked out to the pitch and warmed up.
When the match kicked off, we won the throw in and we got a goal and a few points but by the second half, we were drawing.
The game went into extra time and Nato scored a goal but soon after, the Brunners got a penalty.
I thought it was all over, but after a while in extra time, we managed a win thanks to Nato and Jake.
Phew!

The Match

By Jordan Sunner

When the match started, Evan got the ball and sprinted up to the half way line.
He took a shot. Then the other team digged it. They ran up and took a shot.
Soon, they scored and it was a nice goal.
So that made it 1-0.

Eventually, Nathan Barrett managed to score for the Larriers, making the score 1-1.
I was delighted.
Towards the end of the game, the teams were drawing, so the match had to go to extra time.
We were able to beat the opposition by two goals!
It was such an exciting day!

The Big Game

By Alex Byrne

One day in Old Trafford, United were playing against Liverpool.
In the first minute, Ryan Giggs scored top corner.
Eventually, Liverpool scored and Alex Fergusson was very annoyed.
Suddenly, Michael Owen came on in the forty-fourth minute and soon after he came on, he had his hat-trick and Alex Fergusson was jumping up and down with joy and only five minutes to go!!

Then Torres scored his hat-trick and Alex flipped – he was so angry his face was bright red.
The game went into penalties and Alex became really anxious.
Torres was taking his penalty and he shot a great ball.
VanderSar went top corner and it was a beautiful save.

Ryan Giggs took his penalty and because the keeper was confused by his angle, he managed to SCORE!

Alex said “We Won! We Won!” and the cup went to United.

My Weekend!

On Sunday morning, I woke up.
After I woke up, I eventually got out of bed to watch Kung Fu Panda on my computer.
Every Sunday, I drive to Polish school.
There, I start to do my work. I do Polish Maths and History.
Soon after Polish school, I came home, jumped into my bed and fell sound asleep.

My Weekend!

First, I got up to wish my dad a Happy Birthday.
Then, me and my mom went up to Dunnes Stores and I saw Aaron wearing a Burger King crown.
Soon, I went to get my dad a birthday present.
After, I went to Marks and Spencer's to get a cake. So my brother went to Limerick and when he was coming back he stopped near my cousin's house in Roscrea. Lastly, my dad went to collect him from school.

My Weekend!

We have been writing about our weekends using some really good openers. Openers are words that are used at the start of each sentence. Instead of using 'then', 'I' and 'my' to start each sentence, we have begun to use words such as 'first', 'soon', ;next', 'after', 'so', 'last' and 'eventually'.

Friday's Tangrams!

Tangrams
by James Hayes

On Friday, Andy made shapes on pages using tangrams and we had to fill in the shapes. The shapes were of rockets, houses and people.
It took us a little while but eventually we got the hang of it.
Me and Jordan D worked together. It was fun.

This is a family heirloom.
It was my great great Granma’s and then it was passed on to my Great Granma. It was then given to her daughter, my Grandmother.
It has since been given to my dad and hopefully, one day, it will be mine.

The Bronze Age

How the Bronze Age people built their houses.

Tools the Bronze Age people used to hunt for food and to fight their enemies.

What their houses looked like.

In school we learned about the bronze age ,we learned how to make their houses and we know how they make their weapons and what they use to kill the deers and animals and some keep the animals if they catch them by bare hand.During the winter the families bring the animals in and snuggle with them to keep warm. The bronze age people make jewellery out of tin and copper they make weapons out of tin and copper also. They make weapons such as daggers shields swords spheres, bow and arrows, and axes to chop their wood and fight with enemies. And when the builders were making a road they discovered a big round village that appears to be a bronze age village they also found some weapons and tools . By Tyler
Long ago in the bronze age the people use to hunt their food, some went to the sea and caught big fish, but the bronze age people would get there spheres and daggers and go out to sea, then catch them when they wanted to catch them they would jump into the shallow end and wait till the fish swam threw their legs and the person would get their sphere and stick it right into the back of the fish, when they wanted to catch food in the inland they would get a bow and arrow and a sphere and hide behind a tree until a wild boar or pig went past and hit them with the bow.
When they caught thier fish or pig the would bring it around the back to the cooking spot, they would light a fire, put stones into it and then put the stones into the water, lots of steam will come up and they will drop thier meat into the water. When it would be done they would take it out and eat it all up.

The FAI Leinster Schools' U10 Indoor Final

Last Tuesday morning we got on Terry's bus out to the National Basketball Arena. We were on the first match and only had five minutes to get ready. We were playing against a Wicklow team. While we were playing Evan scored a goal and played the rest of the match. The score was one nil to us. Then we had to wait one hour till are next match . When that match was up we all ran down the stair's and the starting five went on ,and the subs sat on the bench . We were playing St. Joseph's boys from county Kilkenny. Evan and Brando scored in that game. When that match was over the score came to (two nil to us) we were waiting for an hour and fifteen minutes to the next match. We were playing with Evan right back, Brandon left back, Dylan in the middle,
Connor up front and Johnny in goal. We won in that match. After the game we had our lunch and the sir gave us oranges. Then we waited forty minutes for the next match. When we played the next game Dylan scored two, Connor scored one and Evan scored one. We all went the toilets because we were bursting. Then when we played the final we got bet two nil. We were all sulking however we were not crying, because crying is for babies. By Tyler

A big thanks to Barry and Thomas who took this team all the way in the FAI primary schools U10 Indoor Soccer 5-a-side competition. A big thanks also to all the boys' parents, football clubs and coaches. The standard of football played by the lads in the North Dublin section, Dublin finals and Leinster finals was really excellent for small men! Many thanks also to Christy Lockheed and all the other FAI coaches who organised this super competition. Our congratulations to Pope John Paul II National School, Malahide who won the competition, beating us 2-0 in the final. My greatest praise is reserved for the twelve Larriers - strong and proud - who made up this 5-a-side squad. You guys went three competitions and a total of twelve games undefeated in this tournament, not even conceding a goal in the rounds matches of the Leinster play offs. That is awesome and you guys played some beautiful football on the way. You ran out of gas in your last match, unlucky match number 13!!
Yiz are Larriers legends already! We are all very proud of you. By Mark

The Strange Princess

Once apon a time a princess was going through the garden with all the flowers . She looked at the clock and it was time to pick apples from the apple tree . She picked an apple and looked at it close with a magnifinglass . That night she left the apple on her table. By magic it blew into flames and the princes got out just in time . Then she woke up, she thought it was just a dream but she looked on her table and the apple was still there . She got up and threw the apple away. She never heard of it again and she chopped the tree down.

We went to see it. It was gas. So after that we went to Funderland. We went on every ride. They were fantasic. Then we went back to my place and played some games. Then Jack had to go. I said bye Jack, KEEP COOL ...

Brandon
"Hello Jack Frost. How is the weather like up there because it is freezing down here. Come on and we will go to Noctors for a few points of Guinness and then we will go to Chartbusters for a few minutes of sunbeds". Then we will get a few films to watch in my house. We got Hot Fuzz, Norbet, Longest Yard, Mean Machine and Green Street. So when we got home my ma was in bed so I stuck on the films and me and Jack lied on the chairs and watched all of the films until we fell asleep.
